German pensions when living abroad

Manage German pension paperwork while living abroad.

You can request our support from any country of residence. Whether and how a pension is payable abroad needs to be clarified with the competent institution for your situation.

Preparation for your situation

Before a permanent move, clarify possible effects on payments and prepare required notifications. Keep decisions, address details and correspondence organised.

What would you like help with?

If a payment stops, check existing letters for evidence requests and deadlines. We help organise correspondence and prepare questions. We do not guarantee a payment amount or the resumption of payments.

A private service by İRİM in Türkiye. We are not a public authority or a branch of Deutsche Rentenversicherung. The competent pension institution decides on pension entitlements.

German pension documents worldwide: start with your country of residence

Germany and Türkiye are our main focus. We also support people living in other countries with preparation of German pension documents.

EU, EEA and Switzerland

France, Austria, Bulgaria, the Netherlands and other European countries can form part of a cross-border insurance history. Establish the applicable coordination framework and institution. Country of residence and nationality are separate facts.

Countries with social security agreements

Türkiye and other agreement countries have their own applicable arrangements. Do not assume that the conditions for one country apply unchanged to another. List every country in which you were insured.

Countries without an applicable agreement

Living in a country without an agreement does not by itself remove routes for applying for a German pension. It also does not imply that all foreign periods can be combined. Clarify responsibility directly with DRV.

Prepare one international document overview

List countries, insurance references and periods in one timeline. Group correspondence by the institution that issued it. Note spelling differences and moves. Refer tax and health insurance questions separately to the appropriate institutions.

Frequently asked questions

Is your service only for Turkish citizens?

Which languages can I use?

Our website and enquiry routes are available in German, Turkish and English.
